Developer Lump of Sugar has officially released Tayutama Rei, the latest entry in its long-running visual novel franchise. Launching on February 27, 2026, the title serves as a major milestone to commemorate the studio’s 20th anniversary. The game is now available for Windows PC in both digital and physical formats.
A Journey into the Series’ Past
While the previous entry, Tayutama 2, explored a story set in the future, Tayutama Rei shifts the perspective to a war-torn historical era. The narrative focuses on the early efforts of those striving for coexistence between humans and the supernatural beings known as Tayutai. This prequel approach provides a fresh look at the world-building that established the series as a staple in the genre, which previously saw a successful television anime adaptation.
Editions and Bonus Content
The game is available in several versions to accommodate different collector needs. The digital version is currently distributed via DLsite for approximately $44.07. For those preferring physical media, a Standard Edition is available at the same price point of $44.07, while a premium Deluxe Edition is offered at $139.88. Both the digital and Standard editions include the original soundtrack as a bonus. The Deluxe Edition includes the soundtrack along with an exclusive dakimakura body pillow cover featuring original character illustrations.
